Bahrain’s New Labor Rules Enhance Worker Protections

Manama:Ali Ahmed Al Derazi, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights, has commended the introduction of new regulations that allow foreign workers to change employers, describing this as a significant advancement toward a more flexible and equitable labor market.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Derazi emphasized that the amended rules provide improved clarity for both workers and employers. These changes streamline procedures and clearly define the responsibilities of each party, thereby strengthening legal and contractual protections and promoting stable employment relations.

He also noted that the new measures support the principles of business and human rights by emphasizing the responsibility of employers to respect workers' rights while also protecting their own legitimate interests. Al Derazi highlighted the ongoing efforts to modernize labor market legislation as crucial for advancing responsible business practices and enhancing human rights protections in Bahrain.

Al Derazi further stressed the importance of effective implementation of the new regulations to ensure the protection of legal and contractual rights for foreign workers, safeguard the legitimate interests of employers, and maintain balanced employment relations in accordance with international standards.
