Manama: Bahrain's national Kowat Alrami team secured the title of the 7th Arab Kowat Alrami Championship, hosted by the Arab Federation of Kowat Alrami (AFKA) in cooperation with Bahrain Combat Sports Council (BCSC). The event took place from November 12 to 16 at the Khalifa Sports City Hall, with the participation of 12 Arab national teams.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Bahrain secured the championship after finishing at the top of the overall standings with a total of 23 medals, including 12 gold, 4 silver, and 7 bronze medals, while Kuwait finished second with 4 gold, 8 silver, and 4 bronze medals. Palestine claimed third place after earning 4 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze.
His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Vice President of the General Sports Authority (GSA) and President of the Bahrain Combat Sports Council, commended the national team's achievement, emphasizing that the victory reflects the progress of combat sports in the Kingdom.
HH Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed underscored that this growth comes from the support and efforts of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), President of GSA, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), whose initiatives have strengthened Bahrain's presence on regional and international stages.
HH Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed said that the result is an outcome of the dedication of the athletes, coaches, and administrative staff. He added that the team's level of preparedness and the competitive spirit demonstrated the success of Bahrain's athlete development approach, expressing confidence in their ability to continue achieving results in upcoming events.
Bahraini athletes impressed across various weight categories. Mujtaba Mohammed won two gold medals in Light Power and Full Power (under 75 KG), while junior athlete Zayed Ali Al Mousa claimed two golds in Light Power and Body Power (34.5 KG).
Mohammed Emaad secured gold in Body Power and silver in Light Power (80 KG), whereas Husain Ali took gold in Body Power (under 95 KG) and Ammar Jawad Ahmed earned bronze in Light Power (Under 65 KG).
In the under-70 KG category, Hussain Ali Dawood delivered a standout performance, winning gold in Light Power and taking first place in Full Power on a professional belt bout. In the open weight category, Sayed Majeed Alaali placed first in Light Power and third in Body Power.
Mahmood Jaafar collected two bronzes in Light Power and Full Power (Under 70 KG), while Sayed Alawi Al Kamil won gold in Body Power and silver in Light Power (Open weight). Ali Al Laith earned silver in Full Power (Under 85 KG).
Among youth competitors, Jassim Alsabaie claimed two bronzes (Light Power and Full Power) in the under-65 KG category, while Qassim Azhar shone in the under-55 KG category with a gold in Light Power and bronze in Body Power.
Rounding off Bahrain's medal tally, junior athlete Ali Ahmed Hassan secured gold in Light Power and Silver in Body Power (Under 50 KG).
With this collective success, Bahrain's Kowat Alrami national team affirms its regional presence and continues to establish itself as one of the leading teams in the sport across the Arab world.
