Bahrain’s National Basketball Team Dominates William Jones Tournament Ahead of Arab Championship

Taipei: The Bahrain national basketball team continues its impressive performance at the William Jones International Tournament held in Taiwan, achieving six consecutive victories and reinforcing its position at the top of the standings.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the team began its campaign with a win over Japan (85-69), followed by victories against Chinese Taipei (71-63), Malaysia (81-69), Australia (106-91), the United Arab Emirates (77-71), and Qatar (81-47). The team showcased high physical and technical readiness, led by Greek coach Georgios Vovoras.

Nader Al Awadhi, Vice President of the Bahrain Basketball Association, commended the team's level, emphasising that these results reflect tactical discipline and the work of the technical and administrative staff. He also expressed his gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), for his support that contributed to these successes.

Al Awadhi added that this participation serves as preparation for the Arab Basketball Championship, which Bahrain will host from July 25 to August 2, for the first time since its inception in 1974. He emphasised that the goal is to compete for the title and called on fans to support the team during this phase.
