Doha:Qatar: Lieutenant General Adel bin Khalifa Al Fadhel, Deputy Minister of Interior, led Bahrain's delegation at the sixth session of the Conference of the States Parties to the Arab Anti-Corruption Convention.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Deputy Interior Minister expressed gratitude to Qatar for hosting the conference and acknowledged the General Secretariat of the Arab League for organizing the session. He conveyed greetings from General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Minister of Interior, and extended wishes for the conference's success.
Lt. Gen. Al Fadhel highlighted Bahrain's efforts in combating corruption under the guidance of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and with support from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Bahrain has implemented robust frameworks and practices to combat corruption and has adopted standards for regional and international conventions to promote integrity and transparency, aiding the Kingdom's economic and social development.
He acknowledged the contributions of the permanent committee of governmental experts and independent bodies involved in reviewing the Arab Anti-Corruption Convention. He emphasized that combating corruption is a national responsibility and an Arab commitment, integral to sustainable development and the rule of law.
Lt. Gen. Al Fadhel reaffirmed Bahrain's commitment to the Convention and its review mechanism, underscoring their importance in exchanging expertise and enhancing integrity frameworks among participating states.
The conference addressed several agenda items, including the follow-up on previous decisions, developing the implementation review mechanism, drafting a unified Arab guide for financial investigations into corruption crimes, and the Doha declaration on preventive measures against corruption. It also focused on improving international cooperation and speeding up responses to legal assistance requests to enhance the Convention's practical implementation.
