Manama:Bahrain's national handball team secured its third straight win at the 20th Asian Games in Japan by defeating South Korea 30-21 in Group B.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Bahrain led 12-10 at half-time before dominating the second half. The team's improved defensive strategies and swift transitions into attack helped extend their lead. Mohammed Habib was a standout player, scoring six goals.
Bahrain is set to play against Kuwait in the final group stage match tomorrow, aiming to maintain their winning streak and finish the preliminary round unbeaten.
In other events, Bahrain's men's doubles team in table tennis opened with two victories. Mohammed Abbas and Rashed Sanad achieved a 3-0 win against Kyrgyzstan, while S. Murtadha Mahfoodh and Mohamed Al Aali also won 3-0 against Pakistan.
In the shooting competition, Tammar Ali Al Watt placed eighth in the skeet final after qualifying seventh with 119 points. In the women's division, Maryam Jamal Hassani finished 20th, and Maryam Al Asam was 25th.
In swimming, Mikhail Arkhangelskiy finished fourth in the men's 100-metre butterfly final with a time of 51.74 seconds, and Asma Lefalher secured sixth place in the women's 100-metre butterfly.
Bahrain's 3x3 basketball campaign ended with a 21-15 loss to Qatar, and cyclist Ahmed Naser finished 16th in the road race.
In boxing, Omar Budhahei and Hamsa Vogel were both defeated 5-0 by their Iraqi and Indian opponents, respectively.
Bahrain's participation continues with athletics taking center stage.
