Bahrain’s Active Role in International Affairs and Local Developments

Manama: Bahraini daily newspapers today focused on local events that happened over the past 24 hours. By directive of His Majesty the King, the Foreign Minister of Bahrain participated in a leaders' summit on freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. In another significant international engagement, Bahrain chaired a UN Security Council meeting on the Great Lakes region, emphasizing the need for a ceasefire in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. Furthermore, Bahrain's UN mission sent a tenth letter rejecting Iranian claims and reiterated its commitment to international law.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Speaker of Bahrain's Council of Representatives met with the Pakistani National Assembly Speaker, reiterating condemnation of Iranian attacks and commending Pakistan's role in supporting regional stability. The Speaker also expressed pride in Bahrain-Morocco relations during a meeting with the Moroccan Shura Council Speaker.

In sports, HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad attended the conclusion of the Future Stars Series, while HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali crowned the Muharraq Bahrain Basketball League champions. Additionally, the Bahrain Defence Force issued a statement, and the Secretary-General of the Council of Representatives participated in an executive committee meeting of the Association of Secretaries General of National Parliaments.

The Transport Minister marked World Public Transport Day by highlighting efforts to advance a sustainable transport system in Bahrain. In a diplomatic milestone, the Bahrain Ambassador to Korea marked the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
