Bahraini-Russian parliamentary cooperation discussed

Manama, Speaker of the Representatives Council Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal held today an extended discussion session with Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matvienko, and her accompanying delegation.

They discussed parliamentary cooperation and joint action on the basis of the signing of bilateral agreements.

The Representatives Council Speaker affirmed strong and growing relations between Bahrain and Russia, thanks to the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Russian President Vladimir Putin. She emphasised support of the legislative branch to all joint commercial and investment projects which are witnessing a remarkable progress thanks to the support of the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. She also noted the role of the joint committees of businessmen from both countries.

Both sides discussed issues of common concern, including regional and international developments and the need to further boost parliamentary cooperation and coordination of stances to promote security and growth in the region and the whole world.

For her part, Valentina Matvienko thanked the Representatives Council Speaker for the invitation to visit the Kingdom of Bahrain and the gracious welcome and hospitality. She praised Bahrain as a modern civil state, stressing its influential and respectful role within the international community. She also commended the kingdom’s democratic development under the leadership of HM the King. She also lauded the advancement of Bahraini women thanks to the support of HM the King and the initiatives and efforts of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women.
