Bahraini Parliamentary Delegation Backs Resolution Supporting Two-State Solution at IPU Meeting in Tashkent

Tashkent: A Bahraini parliamentary delegation has pledged its support for a resolution endorsing the two-state solution for Palestine during the 150th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in Uzbekistan. Abdulnabi Salman, the First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives and a member of the IPU's Committee on Peace and International Security, highlighted the committee's consensus on the draft resolution.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Salman welcomed the agreement among parliamentary groups, stating that the resolution reflects international commitment to the Palestinian cause and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. He asserted that the two-state solution, aligned with the Arab Peace Initiative and international accords, is essential for achieving a just and lasting peace in the region.

Salman noted that the draft resolution would be presented for official adoption by the IPU General Assembly on Wednesday. He emphasized that backing from national parliaments signifies a strong parliamentary message in support of Palestinian rights. Furthermore, he remarked that the broad consensus within the IPU highlights the growing role of parliamentary diplomacy in promoting global peace and maintaining the Palestinian cause as a priority for the international parliamentary community.

He also stated that the Bahraini parliamentary delegation remains committed to coordinating with other delegations to support just causes, especially the Palestinian issue, in alignment with Bahrain's dedication to fostering international peace and security.
