Kuala Lumpur: A high-level delegation from the Kingdom of Bahrain, led by Noor bint Ali Alkhulaif, Minister of Sustainable Development and Chief Executive of the Bahrain Economic Development Board, and Abdullah bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, commenced a two-day strategic visit to Malaysia. The visit forms part of the Kingdom's ongoing efforts, through Team Bahrain, to enhance its position as a leading destination for international investment, targeting companies seeking to establish or expand their operations in the region.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Waleed Khalifa Al Manea, Bahrain's Ambassador to Malaysia, is accompanying the delegation, alongside senior officials from both sides. During the visit, the Bahraini delegation will hold meetings with key Malaysian officials, including Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia; Tengku Zafrul bin Tengku Abdul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry; and Datuk Ewon Benedick, Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives. Discussions will also take place with representatives from the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA).
As part of the programme, the delegation will highlight Bahrain's investment opportunities across priority sectors during a business dinner hosted by the Kuala Lumpur Business Club. The Kingdom of Bahrain and Malaysia commemorated the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic ties last year. Over the decades, both countries have expanded their cooperation through a series of agreements and memoranda of understanding covering economic, trade, investment, technical, cultural, and scientific domains.
This strategic visit, which follows a series of high-level exchanges, underscores Bahrain's commitment to advancing its long-standing partnership with Malaysia and strengthening mutually beneficial economic cooperation. It aims to further develop bilateral trade and investment relations in support of the Kingdom's sustainable economic development and future employment objectives.
