Bahraini Ambassador to UK receives Parliamentary Committee Chairman

London, The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Kingdom, Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, received, at the embassy, Member of the British House of Commons and Chairman of its Environmental Audit Committee, MP Philip Dunne.

Bilateral cooperation frameworks and other issues related to the environmental field were reviewed, especially Bahrain’s environmental commitment to reach zero neutrality by 2060, which was announced by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, during HRH’s participation in the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26), which was held in Glasgow, United Kingdom.

The envoy also highlighted the initiatives adopted by the Kingdom of Bahrain to remove carbon, enhance energy efficiency and double renewable energy sources, with the aim of reducing emissions by 30% by 2035.

The Ambassador also referred to two memoranda of understanding, one of which was signed between Aluminum Bahrain (Alba) and Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco), and the other between Alba and Mitsubishi heavy Industries, with the aim of adopting sustainable industrial development, in line with Bahrain’s goal to reach zero neutrality by 2060.
