Manama: The Kingdom of Bahrain welcomed the agreement signed in the Omani capital, Muscat, on the exchange of prisoners and detainees in the Republic of Yemen. The agreement was reached under the auspices of the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross, with mediation by the Sultanate of Oman in cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Bahrain views this agreement as a step toward alleviating the humanitarian situation and advancing efforts for a comprehensive and peaceful settlement in Yemen.
According to Bahrain News Agency, a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Bahrain's firm support for all international and regional efforts aimed at reaching a lasting political solution in Yemen. This solution should be in accordance with the Gulf Cooperation Council Initiative and its Implementation Mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference, and UN Security Council Resolution 2216. The statement emphasized the importance of preserving Yemen's sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, and independence, and fulfilling the aspirations of its people for security, stability, and peace.
