The Kingdom of Bahrain welcomed announcement by the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, to extend the truce in the Republic of Yemen for two additional months, in accordance with the terms of the basic agreement that entered into force on the second of April.
The Foreign Ministry appreciated the efforts of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General, and the response of the leadership of the Arab coalition to support legitimacy and the Yemeni parties with his efforts to extend the truce, which comes in the context of the initiative announced by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in March 2021 to end the Yemeni crisis through a comprehensive peace settlement.
It expressed its hope that this initiative would contribute to ending the war and supporting a comprehensive and sustainable political solution to the Yemeni crisis, in order to achieve security, stability and peace throughout brotherly Yemen, and meet the aspirations of its people for development and prosperity.
