Bahrain-UN Coordination and Follow-up Committee discusses ways to enhance joint cooperation

The Coordination and Follow-up Committee between the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain and United Nations agencies today held its first meeting for this year.

Chaired by the Undersecretary for Political Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the meeting was attended by the UN Resident Coordinator, Mohammed El Zarkani, as well as members of the Committee from representatives of relevant ministries and government agencies, and representatives of 21 organisations and agencies of the United Nations.

Dr. Shaikh Abdullah welcomed the members of the committee and stressed the importance of governance of the distinguished partnership between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Nations agencies, in line with national priorities and contributing to Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.

He also praised the efforts made by the committee as a national coordinator in the framework of the strategic partnership for sustainable development between the two sides, which represents an international model in providing the best experiences and initiatives, praising the successive development and civilisational successes of the Kingdom of Bahrain, according to international indicators.

The UN Resident Coordinator valued the constructive cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Nations, indicating that the meeting shows the extent of the joint commitment to implementing the sustainable development goals, considering the Kingdom of Bahrain as one of the leading countries in this field.
