Bahrain Ultra Trail Runners Compete in Prestigious Mozart 100 Race

Salzburg: With the support of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, the Ultra Trail Runners Bahrain team is participating in the Mozart 100 by UTMB, an international mountain running event held annually in Salzburg, Austria.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the team consists of elite runners interested in mountain running and long-distance marathons. Core team members include Hamad Mattar, Ahmed Kamal, Mohammad Zaman, Jassim Al Bastaki, and Amer Ibrahim in the Mozart 100 race, and Riyadh Rafei in the Mozart Ultra. Other participants include Saeed Al Thabit, Adam Jamal in the Mozart Ultra, and Hasanain Merhoun in the Mozart 100.

The Bahrain Ultra Trail Runners (BUTR) is a community team composed of passionate Bahraini endurance and mountain running athletes. Team members have represented the Kingdom of Bahrain in many international events, including several races in the UTMB World Series. The team aims to represent Bahrain globally and showcase the spirit of challenge and resilience that characterizes Bahraini athletes.

The Mozart 100 by UTMB is renowned for its high difficulty and rugged mountainous terrain, featuring several distances, including this year's 120-kilometre race with more than 5,800 metres of vertical climb. This makes it a significant challenge even for professional runners.

The race is organized by the UTMB World Series team, known for some of the toughest and most prestigious mountain running races worldwide, such as those in the Andes, the Alps, the Himalayas, and others. This series serves as the official route to qualify for the final and most famous race in the world: UTMB Mont-Blanc in Chamonix, France.

More than 2,500 male and female runners from around the world are participating in the Mozart 100 this year, competing in an atmosphere filled with challenge and determination and undergoing a real test of their physical and mental strength.
