Bahrain Tops Arab Medal Tally at 20th Asian Games

Aichi-Nagoya:Bahrain: His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, expressed his congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on Bahrain's impressive performance at the 20th Asian Games.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the event, which concluded in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, saw Bahrain securing a total of 22 medals, comprising 11 gold, five silver, and six bronze, placing them first among Arab nations. This accomplishment highlights the advancement of Bahraini sports on a continental scale.

Shaikh Khalid also extended his congratulations to His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, recognizing his ongoing support for Bahraini sports. He noted that Bahrain's performance signifies a landmark achievement in the nation's sports history, reflecting continuous development supported by the royal family, government, sports federations, and athletes.

The Bahraini athletics team was particularly commended for their nine gold medals, underscoring their competitive strength. The handball team's first-ever gold medal at the Asian Games was also praised as the result of years of dedication.

Additionally, the swimming team's gold medal win marked a historic first for both Bahrain and any Gulf country at the Asian Games. Shaikh Khalid emphasized that Bahrain's first-place finish among Arab countries and 10th in Asia, amidst competition from 45 countries, indicates the nation's steady progress and ambition for even greater achievements in future competitions.

Shaikh Khalid expressed his pride in the entire Bahraini delegation and acknowledged their efforts to elevate Bahrain's status in Asian sports.
