Bahrain Strengthens Parliamentary Ties with Asian Countries Ahead of 2026 APA General Assembly

Manama: Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sisi Al Buainain, Secretary-General of the Council of Representatives and Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Bahraini Parliamentary Division, met with Dr. Mohammad Reza Majidi, Secretary-General of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly. The meeting was also attended by MP Ahmed Sabah Al Saloom, Head of the Parliamentary Division delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and Dr. Abdulaziz Abul, Shura Council Member.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Secretary General reaffirmed Bahrain's commitment to enhancing cooperation with Asian countries and promoting parliamentary diplomacy. This commitment is under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Discussions during the meeting focused on organisational, logistical, and technical preparations for hosting the 16th General Assembly of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly in Bahrain from 24-28 January 2026. Additionally, there was an emphasis on strengthening coordination between the Bahraini Parliamentary Division and the Assembly Secretariat to ensure effective implementation of the event.

Bahrain was announced as the Chair of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly for 2026 during the 15th General Assembly held in February in Baku, Azerbaijan.
