Manama: The Bahrain Space Agency (BSA), in collaboration with the Arabian Gulf University (AGU), the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ICESCO), the Azerbaijan Space Agency (Azercosmos), and Space Park X, conducted a workshop titled "Essentials in Space Medicine."
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Mohamed Ebrahim Al Aseeri, CEO of BSA, highlighted the workshop as a key scientific platform aimed at enhancing knowledge on the impact of space environments on human health. He emphasized that the initiative is pivotal for developing national and regional expertise in the field of space medicine.
Dr. Al Aseeri further explained that the workshop is in line with the agency's mission to advance scientific research and nurture regional and international collaborations. He expressed optimism that the event would pave the way for advanced research and initiatives targeting astronaut health challenges in space.
He reiterated the university's dedication to playing a leading role in research and innovation. The workshop is expected to provide educational and practical experiences that deepen the understanding of space medicine and foster scientific partnerships benefiting both the region and the global community.
The workshop addressed critical topics such as physiological adaptation in space, effects of microgravity and cosmic radiation, telemedicine, and modern technologies supporting astronaut health. It featured prominent international experts, including Dr. Ilshad Alayarov and Dr. Kenan Yusifzada, recognized for their significant contributions and experience in the field.
The National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) accredited the workshop, and participants will receive two certificates: one jointly issued by BSA, AGU, and ICESCO, and another by NHRA.
