Bahrain Space Agency Engages in Global Seminar on Orbital Traffic Management

Washington: Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Al Aseeri, Chief Executive Officer of the Bahrain Space Agency (BSA), participated in a high-level seminar hosted by SpaceNews in the United States, which brought together global experts to discuss the current landscape of orbital traffic management. Dr. Al Aseeri emphasized the importance of enhancing global cooperation to preserve the sustainability of space, highlighting that effective management of orbital traffic plays a crucial role in protecting satellite infrastructure and enabling the continued safe use of outer space. He affirmed that Bahrain is committed to contributing to international discussions on space governance.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the CEO pointed out that the seminar addressed the close relationship between space sustainability and orbital traffic coordination, both of which are essential for maintaining the long-term viability of space activities. While space sustainability focuses on minimizing debris and promoting responsible satellite operations, orbital traffic coordination centers on tracking and coordinating spacecraft to avoid collisions and manage orbital congestion.

Dr. Al Aseeri noted that Bahrain's participation reflects the Kingdom's broader efforts to position itself as a regional leader in space and satellite technologies, while supporting international initiatives aimed at ensuring the responsible and sustainable use of outer space. The discussions also covered a range of issues, including regulatory policies, governance models, technological advancements, industry best practices, and public outreach efforts to promote responsible behavior in space.
