Manama: Dr. Jihad Abdullah Al Fadhel, Second Deputy Chairperson of the Shura Council and Chairperson of the Bahrain-Russia Parliamentary Friendship Committee, underscored that the formation of the committee reflects the Council's commitment to parliamentary diplomacy as an effective tool for strengthening bilateral cooperation between Bahrain and other countries, in line with the historical visits of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, which aim to strengthen relations with other countries.
According to Bahrain News Agency, this came during the first meeting of the Bahraini side of the Parliamentary Friendship Committee with the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia, where members discussed the committee's objectives and upcoming work plan. The meeting focused on enhancing parliamentary exchanges, joint coordination in regional and international forums, and identifying priorities in economy, investment, education, energy, and tourism.
Dr. Al Fadhel emphasised that this inaugural meeting marks an important step in establishing a roadmap for strengthening parliamentary and legislative cooperation with Russia, complementing the government's official diplomacy led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Committee members underlined the importance of building on the outcomes of Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh's visit to Russia in July 2025, particularly the memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides, and pledged to make the Bahrain-Russia Parliamentary Friendship Committee an active platform for advancing shared interests.
