Manama: Bahraini daily newspapers today focused on a series of local events unfolding over the past 24 hours. These developments highlight the recent Iranian attacks and the Kingdom’s responses.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Bahrain Defence Force General Command reported that 102 missiles and 173 drones have been destroyed since the onset of the Iranian attacks. The Interior Ministry provided a preliminary count, indicating one fatality and several injuries resulting from an Iranian assault targeting a residential building in Manama. A 29-year-old Bahraini woman was killed, and eight others were injured in this attack. Additionally, six individuals were arrested for filming and sharing footage of the aggression.
The National Communication Centre confirmed that a fire at a facility in Ma’ameer, targeted by an Iranian attack, was successfully contained. Although material damage was reported, there were no injuries or fatalities. In a related incident, Civil Defence teams extinguished a fire in Ma’ameer after the Iranian assault.
High-level engagements followed the attacks. HM King, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, visited the Royal Bahraini Air Force. Meanwhile, HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister chaired the weekly Cabinet Meeting and participated remotely in a meeting with leaders and representatives from the GCC, Arab, and EU countries. Additionally, HRH visited the injured residents of Sitra.
On the diplomatic front, the Kingdom of Bahrain condemned the Iranian attack on a residential facility in Al Kharj. The Foreign Minister held a call with the Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and received a call from the Chinese counterpart, reflecting Bahrain’s ongoing diplomatic efforts.
In terms of infrastructure, the Electricity Minister assured that electricity and water supply continue to operate normally following the drone attack. The Capital Governor visited Sitra to assess the situation after the Iranian drone attack, while the Southern Governor inspected shelter centers and distributed Ramadhan iftar.
A significant show of support came from 76 civil society groups expressing their confidence in the government’s measures to confront Iranian aggression. Meanwhile, Gulf Air opened bookings for a special Dammam-Karachi flight for eligible passengers traveling to and from Bahrain.
As part of regional solidarity, Bahrain extended condolences to the UAE over the loss of its Armed Forces members, with the Bahrain Defence Force offering its sympathies for the death of two UAE servicemen.
