Bahrain Reinforces Commitment to Palestinian Cause at 7th Arab Parliament Conference in Cairo

Cairo: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, participated in the 7th Arab Parliament Conference in Cairo, held in cooperation with the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union. The conference focused on supporting Palestinian resilience, rejecting displacement and annexation plans, and countering efforts to undermine the Palestinian cause.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Speaker emphasized Bahrain's efforts under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with support from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to maintain peace as a strategic choice that fosters peaceful coexistence and human fraternity.

Al Musallam reiterated Bahrain's unwavering stance in supporting the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, aligned with the two-state solution, international legitimacy resolutions, and the Arab Peace Initiative. As Bahrain chairs the 33rd Arab Summit, he expressed support for an emergency Arab summit in Cairo to address recent regional developments and the Palestinian issue.

The conference, chaired by Mohammed Ahmed Al Yamahi, President of the Arab Parliament, brought together Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Arab League Secretary General, Ibrahim Boughali, Speaker of the National People's Assembly of Algeria, President of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, and other Arab parliamentary leaders. During the conference, Al Musallam conveyed greetings from His Majesty the King and expressed wishes for the conference's success.

Al Musallam highlighted the ongoing developments in the Arab region and the humanitarian crisis facing the Palestinian people due to the continued conflict. He called for Arab parliamentarians to unify their stance, strengthen coordination, and align positions in regional and international parliamentary forums. He strongly condemned the Israeli statements on establishing a Palestinian state on Saudi territory and American remarks suggesting the displacement of Palestinians to Egypt and Jordan, describing these as violations of international law and the UN Charter.

He reaffirmed Bahrain's complete solidarity with Arab nations, emphasizing its commitment to sovereignty, stability, and security. Al Musallam stressed that an independent Palestinian state should not be subject to occupation, sale, displacement, or annexation, and that the sovereignty of Arab states is non-negotiable.

He also noted Bahrain's longstanding commitment to peaceful coexistence, cultural diversity, and interfaith dialogue under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The 7th Arab Parliament Conference coincided with Bahrain's hosting of the Intra-Islamic Dialogue Conference, themed One Nation, One Shared Destiny, under His Majesty's patronage. This event drew participation from religious scholars and intellectuals from across the Islamic world, building on Bahrain's efforts to promote peaceful coexistence.

The Speaker concluded by noting the Council of Representatives' firm stance against displacement proposals and any attempts to undermine the Palestinian cause. He expressed the delegation's support for the conference's final document, which outlines unified parliamentary measures to reinforce Palestinian resilience, defend their rights, and enhance Arab parliamentary diplomacy on regional and international platforms.
