Manama: The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), in collaboration with the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, hosted a musical evening at the Bahrain National Theatre, featuring the Bahrain Philharmonic Orchestra. The concert, titled ‘Sound of Spain’, was conducted by Maestro Dr. Mubarak Najem and attended by Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, President of BACA, alongside an audience of culture and music enthusiasts.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the programme showcased works inspired by Spanish musical traditions, delivered through orchestral arrangements performed by an ensemble of international musicians, artists, and guitarists. The concert demonstrated the contemporary artistic vision of Dr. Najem and offered audiences a rich cultural experience.
Dr. Najem, the founder of the Bahrain Philharmonic Orchestra, is recognized as a significant figure in orchestral music within the region. The orchestra comprises more than one hundred musicians and choir members from Bahrain and abroad, reflecting a blend of local and international talent.
With a Doctorate in Arts and a Doctorate in the Philosophy of Folk Arts, Dr. Najem began his musical journey at the Conservatoire in Egypt and later pursued advanced studies as a Music Director, obtaining certifications from the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music in the United Kingdom. Currently, he serves as Director of the Police Band and continues to produce works that embody Bahrain’s cultural identity. His contributions to the field have been acknowledged with awards from opera houses and cultural institutions both regionally and globally.
