Bahrain participates in capacity-building workshop

The Kingdom of Bahrain, headed by the Chief of Strategic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nancy Abdulla Jamal, participated in a capacity-building workshop on targeted financial sanctions and listing regulations, held in coordination with the Riyadh-based Terrorist Financing Targeting Center (TFTC).

The participating delegation from the Kingdom of Bahrain included specialists in AML/CFT files from several relevant ministries and national institutions in the Kingdom, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Central Bank of Bahrain, the Joint Counter Terrorism Centre, as well as the Financial Intelligence Directorate and the General Department for Combating Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security at the Ministry of Interior. The total number of participants reached approximately 80 participants, including experts and practitioners representing the member states of TFTC which are the GCC countries and the United States.

Bahrain’s participation in this workshop, on targeted financial sanctions and international listing systems, underscores the kingdom’s keen interest in these files and reflects its belief in the importance of having united stances among regional and international allies to strengthen joint efforts to combat funding terrorism and dry up its sources in order to ensure global peace and stability.

This is the workshop’s fourth edition this year and it is a part of a series of workshops organised by the Terrorist Financing Targeting Center, which are held periodically throughout the year to intensify efforts, increase strategic cooperation, and unify positions in counter-terrorism.
