Bahrain Parliamentary Group Engages in Virtual Seminar on AI Use in Parliaments

Manama: The parliamentary group of the Kingdom of Bahrain participated in a virtual seminar titled AI Use Case Maps for parliaments, organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) with participation from several national parliaments and international experts.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the seminar aimed to review the main areas where AI technology is used in parliamentary work, contributing to improving legislative and oversight performance, enhancing services offered to legislative members, and addressing ethical and legal challenges related to this modern technology.

The parliamentary group was represented by MP Hassan Ibrahim Hassan, Ali Husain Al Shehabi, Deputy Head of the Human Rights Committee of the Shura Council, and Abeer Al Obaidly, Director of Information and Communications Technology at the Shura Council's Secretariat.

Discussions focused on key topics including improving data clarity and comprehension through graphical structures and visualizations, managing large volumes of information with smart methods to boost parliamentary efficiency, facilitating comparison between alternatives for more accurate and effective decision-making, and supporting long-term strategies by mapping future AI use cases.

The seminar also reviewed successful experiences of parliaments worldwide in integrating AI, alongside contributions from international experts in energy, digital transformation, and innovation.

The parliamentary group's participation reflects its commitment to enhancing its international and regional presence and supporting efforts to integrate AI in parliamentary work for greater efficiency and effectiveness in serving democracy.
