Belgrade: Dr. Jameela Mohamed Redha Al Salman, a member of Bahrain's parliamentary delegation, presented the final report of a working group during the seventh session of the IPU Global Conference of Women Parliamentarians (GCWP) 2026, held in Belgrade, Serbia.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the report highlighted the importance of cooperation between men and women in combating stereotypes and negative social norms that hinder women's political participation. It emphasized the need for strengthening legislation, policies, and institutional mechanisms that support equality and equal opportunities.
The Bahraini delegation also participated in discussions focused on combating discrimination, harassment, and violence against women in parliaments. Additionally, they engaged in training and capacity-building programmes aimed at enhancing women's participation in parliamentary work.
