Bahrain, Pakistan Enhance Parliamentary Cooperation

Islamabad: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, met with Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, in Islamabad as part of a Bahraini parliamentary delegation's visit. The meeting discussed strengthening parliamentary cooperation and coordination.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Pakistani Speaker highlighted the commitment of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Excellency President Asif Ali Zardari to advancing Bahraini-Pakistani relations. He emphasized Pakistan's interest in leveraging Bahrain's strategic location, economic growth, investor-friendly environment, and legislative framework to enhance private sector engagement and support sustainable development. He also underscored the importance of activating the 2022 GCC-Pakistan free trade agreement.

He commended the agreements and MoUs signed between Bahrain and Pakistan and the role of the joint ministerial committee and Bahraini-Pakistani Business Council in fostering economic ties. He also highlighted Bahrain's efforts in promoting regional peace and security.

On his part, Al Musallam praised the longstanding Bahraini-Pakistani ties and their continuous development under the leadership of His Majesty the King and the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He reaffirmed Bahrain's commitment to peace, sustainable development, and international cooperation in promoting coexistence and tolerance.

The Speaker also underscored the importance of parliamentary visits in strengthening legislative collaboration and aligning positions in international forums.
