Manama: The Ministry of Interior in Bahrain has established a specialised office under the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science to support victims of human trafficking. This initiative aims to provide a safe environment for victims to give testimony and includes a dedicated space for children. It seeks to enhance cooperation with judicial authorities throughout the investigation and prosecution process.
According to Bahrain News Agency, this step underscores Bahrain's commitment to combating trafficking in persons. It is in alignment with Law No. 1 of 2008 with Respect to Trafficking in Persons and the Palermo Protocol, which was ratified under Law No. (4) of 2004.
The Forensic Media Division has highlighted ongoing awareness efforts and has urged the public to report related activities. Reports can be made via hotline 555, operations room 999, or email [email protected], with assurances of full confidentiality.
