Bahrain Olympic Committee Named Best Arab Olympic Body for 2024

Manama: The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) has been named the Best Arab Olympic Body for 2024 by the Arab Federation for Sports Culture. The award recognises the committee's sporting achievements, administrative successes, and outstanding initiatives.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Ashraf Mahmoud, President of the Executive Committee of the Arab Federation for Sports Culture and a member of the International Federation for Sports Culture, presented the award to His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of BOC. The award presentation was attended by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the BOC; Dr. Abdulrahman Askar, CEO of the GSA; and Fares Mustafa Al Kooheji, Secretary General of BOC.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad expressed his pride in the BOC being recognised as the Best Arab Olympic Body for 2024. His Highness highlighted the committee's achievements and efforts which have led to the kingdom of Bahrain securing first place among Arab nations at the Paris 2024 Olympics with four medals-two gold, one silver, and one bronze. His Highness also noted the committee's success in international competitions and its launch of several sports initiatives that have earned regional and international recognition.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad emphasised the committee's vital role in supporting and developing the Kingdom's national teams (Team Bahrain). His Highness described the award as a motivation to continue advancing Bahraini sports and further enhancing its global standing.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad thanked the Arab Federation for Sports Culture for awarding the BOC. His Highness commended the federation's efforts in promoting sports across the Arab world and its annual awards ceremony, which encourages athletes and institutions to excel in elevating Arab sports.
