NEW YORK: Bahrain's Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York hosted a reception at the UN headquarters to commemorate Bahrain's National Day. The event celebrated the establishment of Bahrain as a modern Arab and Muslim state in 1783 by Ahmed Al Fateh and the anniversary of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's Accession. According to Bahrain News Agency, Ambassador Jamal Fares Al Rowaiei, Bahrain's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, underscored Bahrain's dedication to fostering peaceful coexistence and constructive cooperation under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He emphasized that these principles are integral to Bahrain's identity and influence its global interactions. Ambassador Al Rowaiei highlighted Bahrain's growing partnership with the United Nations, which promotes common objectives of peace, security, and sustainable develo pment. He detailed Bahrain's participation in international initiatives supporting peace, human rights, environmental preservation, and climate change mitigation, aligning with its global commitments, the Sustainable Development Goals, and the Pact for the Future. The ambassador also noted Bahrain's international achievements in human development, e-governance, economic freedom, youth development, and women's empowerment. He referenced Bahrain's international recognition for humanitarian service, peaceful coexistence, and the significant roles of women and youth in sustainable development. Ambassador Al Rowaiei highlighted Bahrain's humanitarian efforts through the Royal Humanitarian Foundation and its advocacy for religious freedom and cultural diversity via the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence. He reiterated Bahrain's climate action commitments, including the goals of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2060 and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 30% by 2035, through enhancing energy efficiency, adopting renewable energy, and protecting biodiversity. The ambassador concluded by reaffirming Bahrain's commitment to constructive international engagement and supporting multilateral efforts to address global challenges, in accordance with the UN Charter and international law.
