Baghdad: Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Arab Republic of Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, chaired the meeting of permanent representatives and senior officials held in Baghdad. This meeting was in preparation for the upcoming assembly of Arab foreign ministers, preceding the 34th regular Arab League Summit hosted by Iraq.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting was attended by Hossam Zaki, Assistant Secretary General of the League of Arab States. Ambassador Zainal commended Iraq for its summit preparations and expressed appreciation to the League's General Secretariat for organizing the event. She conveyed well wishes for a successful summit aimed at enhancing Arab cooperation and serving the collective interests of the Arab nation.
Ambassador Zainal highlighted Bahrain's commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, to advancing joint Arab action. During its presidency of the 33rd Arab Summit in May 2024, Bahrain focused on Arab cooperation, solidarity, and integration as essential principles for addressing regional challenges.
She emphasized Bahrain's active role in implementing resolutions from the Bahrain Summit, across political, economic, social, and development domains. The Kingdom also tracked the progress of its proposed initiatives, which were adopted at the summit. To support these efforts, Bahrain launched a central database at the League's General Secretariat and developed an electronic platform to monitor the execution of summit decisions. A comprehensive media plan was also prepared to highlight Arab efforts.
Ambassador Zainal expressed gratitude to Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the League of Arab States, along with the Secretariat's staff and permanent representatives for their collaboration during Bahrain's summit presidency. Dr. Qahtan Taha Khalaf Al Janabi, Iraq's Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League, chaired the remainder of the meeting. Ambassador Zainal wished him success and expressed confidence in Iraq's ability to advance joint Arab action in line with regional aspirations.
