Bangkok: Bahrain’s national jiu-jitsu team won seven medals at the Jiu-Jitsu World Championship in Bangkok, securing two gold and five bronze medals. Pedro Bissi de Jesus captured gold in the under-85kg (gi) youth category, while Abdulla Shaikh Ali achieved gold in the under-56kg (no-gi) youth category. Ali further added two bronze medals in the youth and men’s under-56kg (no-gi) events. The remaining bronze medals were won by Dr. Ahmed Abdulhamid Al Aradi, Bader Jamal Al Doseri, and Essa Abdulaziz Abdulhamid in the masters and gi divisions.
According to Bahrain News Agency, His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Vice President of the General Sports Authority and President of the Bahrain Combat Sports Council, emphasized the significance of this achievement and acknowledged the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for the sports sector. He also praised the efforts of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, for his role in advancing combat sports in Bahrain.
His Highness lauded the Bahrain Jiu-Jitsu Federation, led by Redha Ibrahim Monfaredi, for creating a supportive environment for the team’s success, and expressed gratitude to the technical and administrative staff for their dedicated efforts.
