Bahrain Heads GCC Legislative Coordination Meeting in Doha

Doha: MP Ahmed Sabah Al Saloom, Head of the Parliamentary Division delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain, chaired a Gulf meeting of legislative councils in Qatar, on the sidelines of the Standing Committee on Budget and Planning meeting of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly. Dr. Abdulaziz Hassan Abul, Shura Council Member, was present.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting addressed issues of shared interest, with particular emphasis on enhancing mechanisms for Gulf coordination and consultation during Asian Parliamentary Assembly meetings. Participants also reviewed organisational and administrative matters related to the Assembly's work, with the aim of unifying Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states' positions and strengthening joint parliamentary cooperation.

The meeting highlighted the importance of maintaining and advancing Gulf coordination to enhance effective participation in Asian parliamentary forums and to support the role of Gulf legislative councils in discussing regional and international issues, in line with the common objectives of the GCC member states.
