Bahrain Foreign Minister Condemns Iranian Violations on Arab Human Rights Day

Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the National Committee for Human Rights, emphasized the protection of rights to a secure life, safety, and human dignity in Bahrain. He attributed this to the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the integration of constitutional institutions, and the national efforts led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Al Zayani expressed gratitude for the Arab League's role in advancing human rights and fostering Arab solidarity during the Arab Human Rights Day and the 22nd anniversary of the Arab Charter on Human Rights. He criticized Iranian attacks on Bahrain and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states, noting the efforts of these nations to resolve crises through dialogue and diplomacy.

Dr. Al Zayani highlighted the severe impact of Iranian attacks on civilian facilities, infrastructure, and the resulting casualties and terror among civilians. He described these actions as violations of international law and humanitarian principles, and breaches of conventions like the Charter of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Cairo Declaration on Human Rights in Islam.

The Foreign Minister praised the leadership of His Majesty the King and the Crown Prince in addressing challenges with determination and responsibility. He highlighted Bahrain's security measures, including cooperation among the Bahrain Defence Force, the National Guard, and the Ministry of Interior, alongside GCC military forces.

He also acknowledged the government's efforts to enhance human rights and freedoms, citing remote work initiatives, digital services, remote education, healthcare readiness, and the activation of the National Civil Emergency Management Center. Additionally, he mentioned measures for food and water security, energy sector efficiency, and cybersecurity enhancement.

Dr. Al Zayani expressed confidence in the Bahraini community's commitment to national responsibility and adherence to guidance from authorities. He commended the international community's support, reflected in the UN Security Council Resolution 2817 condemning Iranian attacks, sponsored by a record number of countries.

He reaffirmed Bahrain's diplomatic approach prioritizing dialogue and peaceful dispute resolution, contributing to regional security, and aligning with the UN Charter and human rights instruments. Dr. Al Zayani concluded by affirming Bahrain's commitment to promoting human rights and fostering a culture of peace and development.
