Manama: Bahrain hosted the 2024 World Para-Taekwondo Poomsae Championship from November 26-29, bringing together 127 athletes from 21 countries. The event reflects Bahrain's commitment to promoting its global sporting reputation and supporting athletes with determination. According to Bahrain News Agency, in a historic achievement, Zaina Al Balooshi secured Bahrain's first-ever gold medal in the sport. Adding to Bahrain's success, Noora Zainal claimed a silver medal in the Down Syndrome category, while Rooba Al Omari earned silver in the wheelchair category, highlighting the perseverance and talent of Bahraini athletes. Bronze medals were awarded to Rawan Al Saad in the Down Syndrome category, Mohamed Jasim in the neurological category, and Yasmeen Fekri in the Intellectual category, showcasing the diverse abilities within the team. Bahrain's women's team also won second place overall, a significant achievement that underscores teamwork and collaboration. Shaikh Mohamed bin Duaij Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Paralympic Committee (BPC), congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on this historic accomplishment. Shaikh Mohamed bin Duaij highlighted that the achievement reflects Bahrain's vision and commitment to supporting athletes with determination, reinforcing the Kingdom's position on the global sports stage. The president commended the athletes' emphasised the continuous support of BPC to advance the sport.
