Abu Dhabi: Lieutenant General Tariq Al Hassan, Chief of Public Security, led Bahrain's delegation to the World Police Summit 2025, held in the United Arab Emirates under the theme "Beyond the Badge: Envision the Next Era of Policing". The summit gathered over 300 international speakers, experts, and security decision-makers.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Lt. Gen. Al Hassan participated in a panel discussion titled "Technological Transformations in the Landscape of Organised Crime". He discussed the growing challenges posed by modern crimes such as cyber fraud and illicit drug trafficking. The Chief of Public Security also noted that criminals increasingly exploit advanced tools, including cryptocurrencies, encrypted messaging applications, and the dark web, to evade surveillance and hinder law enforcement efforts.
Lt. Gen. Al Hassan emphasised the importance of further developing cross-border security cooperation by fostering trust and communication among law enforcement agencies and adopting legal frameworks that support international collaboration. He also underscored the need to invest in training law enforcement personnel to keep pace with modern technologies and harness artificial intelligence capabilities in crime prevention.
The Chief of Public Security highlighted Bahrain's initiatives, promoting community partnerships and launching programmes to protect youth and society from drugs, organised crime, fraud, and online harassment. These efforts include educational security awareness programmes implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and international partnerships and coordination.
He emphasised the vital role of international security coordination in tackling transnational crimes, citing the contributions of INTERPOL and the GCC Police Authority in facilitating expertise exchange, supporting police capacity building, and enhancing regional and international security cooperation. On the summit's sidelines, the Chief visited the International Exhibition for Security and Law Enforcement, which featured over 170 exhibitors presenting cutting-edge policing technologies and security solutions that support advancing law enforcement systems across various sectors.
