Bahrain Engages in Preparatory Meeting for 52nd OIC Council of Foreign Ministers

Riyadh: The Kingdom of Bahrain took part in the preparatory meeting of senior officials for the 52nd Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), in Saudi Arabia.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Bahraini delegation was headed by Hatem Abdulhameed Hatem, Chief of the Organisations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Bahrain's participation reflects its continued commitment to strengthening joint Islamic action and reaffirming its adherence to the principles and objectives of the OIC, particularly in advancing Islamic solidarity, unifying member states' positions, and expanding cooperation in ways that serve shared interests and support regional and international security and stability.

The meeting reviewed a range of political, economic, and development issues on the agenda of the upcoming Council of Foreign Ministers session, in addition to discussing current developments of common concern in the Islamic world and mechanisms to enhance coordination and consultation among member states in response to emerging challenges, while reinforcing the organisation's role on the international stage.

Senior officials concluded the meeting by agreeing on a set of draft resolutions to be submitted to the 52nd Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, scheduled to be held in Baghdad, Republic of Iraq, on 11-12 April 2026.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Hatem held bilateral meetings with heads of participating delegations, focusing on strengthening cooperation within the OIC framework and supporting the Kingdom of Bahrain's candidacies for positions in regional and international organisations, underscoring Bahrain's standing and its active contribution to multilateral action.
