Bahrain Engages in Key Discussions at Islamic Development Bank Meetings in Baku

Baku: Yusuf Abdulla Al Humood, Undersecretary for Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, led Bahrain's delegation to the 2026 Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group in Baku, Azerbaijan. The event convened ministers, central bank governors, and representatives from regional and international organizations to discuss initiatives aimed at advancing development across IsDB member states.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the meetings highlighted major new initiatives, including the IsDB Group's concessional financing framework. Participants discussed enhancing plans to address economic conditions, focusing on financial stability in food security, energy, and climate sectors, and supporting economic integration and sustainable prosperity.

On the sidelines, Al Humood attended the IsDB Group Board of Governors Roundtable, congratulating Dr. Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser on his re-election as President of the IsDB Group. He emphasized Bahrain's backing for the group's development role and noted the strategic importance of the IsDB's concessional financing fund in promoting South-South cooperation and aiding least-developed member states.

Al Humood's engagements included meetings with Abdullah Al Musaibeeh, President of BADEA, and Fawaz Bilbisi, Regional Director of the IFC, where he highlighted the financial sector's role in sustainable growth and Bahrain's commitment to cooperation and expertise exchange. Additionally, discussions with Dr. Rami Ahmed, Vice President for Operations at the IsDB, focused on enhancing Bahrain's collaboration with the bank.

The meetings further addressed regional economic developments and opportunities for expanded cooperation, underscoring issues of mutual interest among member states.
