Manama: A delegation from the parliamentary division of the Kingdom of Bahrain participated in a virtual briefing organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) to discuss strategies for strengthening the political participation of women and youth through mentoring. The event aimed to promote inclusive participation in legislative processes.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the session gathered parliamentarians, youth representatives, and civil society stakeholders to exchange expertise and approaches to advancing political empowerment, with a particular focus on young women. The Bahraini delegation comprised Dalal Jassim Al Zayed, Chairperson of the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee at the Shura Council, and Hassan Ibrahim Hassan, a member of the Council of Representatives.
Dalal Jassim Al Zayed emphasized Bahrain's supportive constitutional and legislative framework for women's political participation. She highlighted the role of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, in advancing policies and programs for women's empowerment. Additionally, she noted Bahrain's commitment to preparing youth for political engagement through structured programs, which include training on legislative processes and opportunities to observe parliamentary sessions.
The briefing featured presentations on mentoring initiatives and strategies to enhance youth involvement in political life, particularly addressing the needs of young women parliamentarians.
