Manama:The Kingdom of Bahrain's delegation, headed by Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs at the Ministry of Interior, took part in the 21st Traveller Identification Programme (TRIP) Symposium and Exhibition. This event was organized by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and held from September 22 to 24 at its headquarters in Canada.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Bahrain's involvement in the symposium highlights its commitment to developing a secure and smart travel system. The country aims to align with the latest international practices and technologies related to passenger facilitation, identity verification, and border management. These efforts are integral to supporting Bahrain's strategic projects in these areas.
Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman emphasized that Bahrain is enhancing its travel system through various projects. These include the One-Stop Travel Project with the United Arab Emirates, the Electronic Travel Authorisation system, the development of eGates, and the Bahraini electronic passport. The projects are designed to streamline procedures, facilitate passenger movement, enhance border security, and improve the overall travel experience.
He further noted that the symposium serves as a platform to explore international practices in digital identity, biometrics, secure travel documents, and advanced border management technologies. These innovations are crucial for supporting Bahrain's ongoing development projects, ensuring travel is more efficient and secure while maintaining high standards of security and identity verification.
The symposium also aligns with Bahrain's objectives by covering areas such as trusted digital identity, electronic and digital travel documents, biometrics, automated border control systems, and innovative passenger facilitation solutions. It enables the exchange of international expertise and experiences, which is vital for evolving travel and border management systems.
