London: The Bahrain embassy in the United Kingdom has won the Consul of the Year Award for 2024 among Middle Eastern embassies accredited to the UK. The award, organised by Embassy Magazine, recognises the embassy's outstanding efforts and achievements in enhancing consular services through digital innovation and accessibility. According to Bahrain News Agency, the selection was based on votes from embassies accredited to the UK. The accolade highlights the embassy's advanced consular services, including the launch of its virtual consulate, which offers Bahraini citizens, residents, and visitors in the UK, Spain, Portugal, Iceland, and Ireland access to services without requiring in-person visits. Services can be accessed via the embassy's consular app or its virtual office through the "Skiplino" application. The embassy also provides additional services through its security attaché office, such as electronic fingerprinting for good conduct certificates, directly linked to authorities in Bahrain. Recently, a payment device was introduced, enabling users to process fees for over 60 services, making it the first Bahraini embassy to offer this feature. Shaikh Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the embassy's security attaché, accepted the award, highlighting the embassy's commitment to supporting Bahraini nationals in the UK and other countries under its jurisdiction and contributing to the development of its consular services programme.
