Manama: The Bahrain-Egypt Government Committee for Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technological Cooperation held its second meeting in Bahrain. Chaired by Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy, and Ahmed Kojak, Minister of Finance of the Arab Republic of Egypt, the meeting aimed to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa highlighted the strong and growing ties between Bahrain and Egypt, stressing the importance of continuing efforts to deepen strategic partnerships supported by the leadership of both countries. He noted that the partnership has the backing of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Excellency Abdel Fatah El Sisi, President of Egypt, with close follow-up from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt.
Minister Kojak emphasized the committee's role in fostering bilateral relations and promoting joint actions to boost trade and investment. He noted significant improvements in economic activities, particularly in tourism, over the past two years and highlighted the private sector's role in driving investment and sustainable development. Egypt expressed interest in hosting an economic forum to promote investment opportunities between both countries' business communities.
The discussions covered various aspects of economic, trade, scientific, and technological cooperation, aiming to drive progress and prosperity for both nations. The meeting addressed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, trade growth, investment opportunities, and the exchange of expertise and best practices. Both sides agreed on the importance of enhancing cooperation, coordination, and partnership to achieve mutual economic growth.
Attendees from Bahrain included Hamad bin Faisal Al Malki, Minister of Cabinet Affairs; Noor bint Ali Al Khulaif, Minister of Sustainable Development and Chief Executive of the Economic Development Board; Fatima bint Jaafar Al Sairafi, Minister of Tourism; Abdullah bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce; Sameer Abdulla Nass, Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and Shaikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, CEO of Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company. The Egyptian delegation included Dr. Rania Al Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation; and Hassan Al Khatib, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade.
