Bahrain Condemns Drone Attack on Saudi Oil Facilities

Manama: The Kingdom of Bahrain has issued a strong condemnation of the attempted terrorist attack targeting oil facilities in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province and Riyadh region. The attack, carried out using drones launched from Iraqi territory by Iran-backed terrorist militias, has been denounced by Bahrain as a serious breach of international law.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the attack as a direct violation of the United Nations Charter and a challenge to United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817. The Ministry highlighted the threat posed to regional security and energy supplies, warning of systematic attempts to undermine de-escalation efforts.

The Kingdom of Bahrain expressed unwavering solidarity with Saudi Arabia, pledging full support for any measures taken to protect its sovereignty, security, and stability. The statement emphasized Bahrain's backing for Saudi Arabia's right to defend its territory and vital facilities in line with international law and the Joint Defence Agreement of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

Bahrain also affirmed its backing for any responsive actions Saudi Arabia decides to take against those responsible for the attack. The Ministry underscored the interconnected security interests of Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, noting that any threats to Saudi stability impact the broader region.

The Ministry commended the Saudi air defenses for their efficiency in intercepting and destroying the drones, thereby preventing damage and safeguarding civilians and national assets. Bahrain's statement also criticized the use of Iraqi territory for launching the attacks, urging the Iraqi government to prevent such occurrences.

The Ministry called for the Iraqi government's decision to restrict weapons to state control to be implemented swiftly. It urged decisive measures to prevent further use of Iraqi territory for attacks, calling on Iran to cease its support for militias and to end its aggressive policies.

Finally, the Ministry reiterated Bahrain's call for the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to fulfill its responsibilities and enforce previous resolutions. It stressed the need for urgent actions to halt the unjustified terrorist attacks by Iran and its proxies, underscoring the importance of respecting state sovereignty and promoting regional stability.
