Bahrain Chairs Arab Meeting on Monitoring SDG Implementation

Manama: The Ministry of Sustainable Development chaired the 17th Meeting of the Arab Committee for Monitoring the Implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, aligning with Bahrain's presidency of the 115th session of the Economic and Social Council of the League of Arab States. The virtual meeting was led by Dana Imad Hamzah, Assistant Undersecretary for Sustainable Development, and included senior representatives from Arab member states and national institutions.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Hamzah emphasized Bahrain's commitment to the sustainable development agenda under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. She stated that Bahrain's efforts are driven by the principles of Economic Vision 2030, which focus on sustainability, competitiveness, and fairness. These initiatives are underpinned by national programs, legislative reform, strategic partnerships, and improved data infrastructure.

Hamzah also highlighted Bahrain's emphasis on key enablers of sustainable development, such as the adoption of advanced digital technologies, financial inclusion, investment in human capital, and digital transformation. These elements are crucial in accelerating progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

She concluded by stating that the meeting provides a significant opportunity to enhance regional cooperation on sustainable development, particularly following Bahrain's leadership of the 33rd Arab League Summit. The outcomes of the summit showcase Bahrain's diplomatic, political, and economic role in strengthening joint Arab action.
