Bahrain Celebrates US Independence Day with Illuminations Across Landmarks

Manama: Bahraini daily newspapers today highlighted a series of local events, with a particular focus on the celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of US independence. Among the notable events, Bahrain illuminated its buildings and landmarks in a vibrant display to honor this significant milestone in US history.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the celebration was further marked by congratulatory messages exchanged between Bahrain and the United States. HM King sent a congratulatory message to the US President on the occasion of Independence Day, reaffirming the strong bilateral relations between the two nations. HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister also extended congratulations to the US President, emphasizing the enduring partnership and cooperation.

In addition to the celebrations, the GCC Secretary General acknowledged the Bahraini Foreign Minister's recent briefing during an emergency session at the Security Council. The briefing was noted for its adherence to international law and the UN Charter, showcasing Bahrain's commitment to diplomatic principles.

Other regional developments included discussions between the UAE President and the Libyan Prime Minister on enhancing bilateral relations, as well as a new strategic partnership announced by the Philippines and Canada aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation. Meanwhile, the UAE Cyber Security Council successfully thwarted cyberattacks targeting the financial sector, highlighting ongoing efforts to enhance regional cyber defenses.

The news coverage also touched on global events, including a heatwave across Europe resulting in rising death tolls, a tragic bus crash in southwest Pakistan claiming 40 lives, a magnitude 5.2 earthquake near Greece's Karpathos island, and airstrikes by the Somali army resulting in the death of 27 Al Shabaab militants.
