Bahrain backs all global anti-terror efforts based on royal vision: Speaker

Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal, has affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain supports all international efforts to eradicate terrorism and extremism, based on the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to promote peace, tolerance and coexistence among all peoples and countries.

She pointed out that the kingdom continuous to work tirelessly to combat all forms of terrorism and strengthen the pillars of security and stability, through multiple plans implemented by the government, led by His Royall Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Zainal made the statements as she participated in the meeting of the High-Level Advisory Group on Countering Terrorism and Violent Extremism, held here today on the sidelines of the 143rd Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly.

The Speaker indicated that Bahrain has always contibuted effectively to the international system to combat the phenomenon of terrorism, which poses a threat to global security and stability, especially in light of the expansion of the fields of terrorist crimes, and the multiplicity of means used to undermine efforts to spread peace in the world.

She stressed that combating the crimes of terrorism, extremist ideology and racism requires concerted action and integrated efforts by parliaments and governments to formulate effective solutions and advanced legislation to eliminate terrorism.

They also require raising peoples’ societal awareness of the dangers and threats of extremism and terrorism, as well as the disruption they cause to countries’ development and progress efforts, she said.
