Bahrain and Oman Sign 25 Agreements to Enhance Bilateral Cooperation

Muscat: As part of a significant state visit by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to the Sultanate of Oman, a total of 25 agreements, memoranda of understanding (MoUs), and executive programs were signed at Al Bustan Palace. These agreements aim to strengthen bilateral cooperation across a wide range of fields.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the agreements include a Double Taxation Agreement, which seeks to foster economic relations and improve cooperation on tax matters. This was signed by Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa from Bahrain and Nasser Al Jashmi from Oman.

Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding on Meteorology was inked to enhance partnership in the field of weather studies. Health sector cooperation was also a focus, with an MoU signed to advance collaborative health initiatives.

In finance and trade, a MoU on the Stock Market aims to facilitate expertise exchange and improve integration between the two nations. Cooperation in scientific and educational domains was formalized through another MoU, alongside an agreement for mutual investment opportunities.

Significant attention was given to industrial and economic development, with agreements on Industrial Empowerment, Food Security, and the establishment of Economic and Industrial Zones. These frameworks are designed to promote sustainable industrial growth and food security.

Further MoUs were signed covering areas such as Media Cooperation, Endowments, Zakat, and Social Insurance and Protection. These aim to enhance collaboration in cultural, religious, and social security domains.

The visit also saw agreements in areas like Labour and Human Resources Development, Public Administration, and combating human trafficking, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to cooperation.

Notably, executive programs targeting educational institution evaluation, municipal work, and museum cooperation were signed, alongside a major program for Electricity and Renewable Energy Cooperation slated for 2025 to 2030.

This extensive range of agreements showcases the commitment of Bahrain and Oman to deepen their bilateral relationship and explore new avenues for cooperation. The accords are expected to bolster economic ties and foster growth in key sectors.
