Bahrain and Kyrgyz Republic Sign Joint Statement During Landmark Official Visit

Manama: Bahrain and the Kyrgyz Republic have issued a joint statement following the historic official visit by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov to the Kingdom of Bahrain. This visit, which marks the first of its kind in the history of Bahraini-Kyrgyz relations, was conducted at the invitation of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

According to Bahrain News Agency, extensive discussions were held in a conducive atmosphere where both leaders expressed satisfaction with the positive trajectory of bilateral relations. These ties have been rooted in mutual trust since the two countries established diplomatic relations on February 9, 1996. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in various domains, including political, economic, transport, and cultural fields, among others. Security, defense, and climate change were also on the agenda, as both sides emphasized the need for a strengthened legal framework to support collaborations.

The statement highlighted several key agreements, including the establishment of an Intergovernmental Joint Commission on Cooperation and the launch of a direct flight route between Manama and Bishkek. Both leaders underscored the importance of mutual trade and economic partnerships, identifying areas like food security, renewable energy, and logistics as promising for future collaboration.

The joint statement also emphasized the importance of cultural exchanges in tourism, sports, education, and healthcare. Both leaders agreed on strengthening ties between universities and educational institutions to foster academic and cultural exchanges. They also reaffirmed a commitment to international cooperation, highlighting mutual support for each other's candidacies for non-permanent membership on the United Nations Security Council.

Discussions on international and regional issues stressed adherence to the UN Charter, international law, and peaceful resolutions to conflicts. The leaders also addressed the importance of establishing peace in the Middle East and the resolution of the Palestinian issue based on a two-state solution.

The Kyrgyz side expressed support for Bahrain's foreign policy and initiatives to promote regional stability and values of coexistence. The statement concluded with both leaders agreeing to intensify efforts for bilateral cooperation and an invitation extended by President Zhaparov to King Hamad for a visit to Bishkek, which was graciously accepted.
