Bahrain and Japan Strengthen Ties with Strategic Partnership and Multiple MoUs

Manama: Bahraini daily newspapers reported on significant developments during HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister's official visit to Japan, focusing on the elevation of bilateral relations to a strategic partnership between Bahrain and Japan. According to Bahrain News Agency, the visit was marked by several high-level meetings and the signing of multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs). HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister met with the Prime Minister of Japan to discuss the enhancement of their strategic partnership. Among the agreements reached was a cooperation MoU aimed at developing government human resources. Furthermore, Bahrain and Japan signed a consultation document concerning air transport services and the initiation of direct flights between the two countries. An MoU on e-government and digital transformation was also finalized, reflecting the countries' commitment to advancing technological cooperation. In the area of space exploration, the Bahrain Space Agency signed an MoU with JAXA, Japan's national aerospace agency, to enhance cooperation in space-related activities. Additionally, the Industry Ministry of Bahrain signed an MoU on the Patent Prosecution Highway program, aimed at expediting patent processes. In other diplomatic activities, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad arrived in Serbia on an official visit and met with a Bahrain Chamber delegation. Meanwhile, Bahrain's participation in international events continued with the country's pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka hosting an official reception on National Day and the Personal Data Protection Authority taking part in the 47th Global Privacy Assembly in South Korea. The Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council Financial and Economic Affairs Committee also participated in the WTO Public Forum 2025.
