Bahrain and Italy Sign Joint Declaration to Enhance Customs Cooperation

Rome: As part of the official visit of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to Italy, a joint declaration was signed between the Customs Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Customs and Monopolies Agency of the Italian Republic.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa, President of Customs, emphasized Bahrain's dedication to enhancing the exchange of expertise and international cooperation in customs. This effort aims to support the ongoing development of customs and logistics operations and to strengthen Bahrain's position as a prominent regional hub for trade and logistics services. He acknowledged the government's backing, led by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in advancing customs operations, which play a significant role in the national economy. This is achieved through effective customs strategies and programs overseen by General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior.

The Customs President further stated that the agreement aims to advance customs risk systems, encourage the adoption of modern technology and artificial intelligence, and broaden programs for certified economic operators. This endeavor is expected to boost trade volume, support the logistics sector, and improve oversight to safeguard commercial supply chains from unlawful activities.
