Bahrain and Indonesia Strengthen Parliamentary Cooperation

Jakarta: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Chairman of the Council of Representatives, held a parliamentary meeting with Puan Maharani, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Indonesia, during the Bahraini parliamentary delegation's visit to Jakarta. The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral parliamentary cooperation to support the interests of both countries.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Speaker Maharani commended the efforts of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in advancing Islamic cooperation and promoting the values of coexistence and tolerance. She also highlighted the commitment of HM the King and His Excellency Prabowo Subianto, President of Indonesia, to enhance bilateral relations and coordination on regional and international topics of shared interest. She emphasized the role of parliamentary diplomacy in advancing economic cooperation and legislative exchange, and in aligning stances within international parliamentary forums.

On his part, Al Musallam underscored the steady progress in Bahrain-Indonesia relations, supported by HM the King and followed up by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He noted that the partnership is built on shared values and strategic projects, with ongoing coordination on key regional and international matters. He emphasized Bahrain's commitment to Islamic unity and solidarity, referencing Bahrain's hosting of the Intra-Islamic Dialogue Conference held under the theme "One Nation, Shared Destiny." He also noted the importance of parliamentary visits in deepening cooperation and sharing legislative expertise.

The visit coincides with Bahrain's participation in the 19th Session of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) Conference, held in Jakarta under the theme "Good Governance and Strong Institutions as Pillars of Resilience."
